ViewSonic are set to release a new 27″ gaming screen in their XG range, making use of the same LG.Display Nano IPS panel that has been featured in the LG 27GL850 already and is attracting a lot of buyer interest. The new model is the ViewSonic Elite XG270QG and it will also offer native G-sync support (featuring a hardware module) and a few extra gamer-orientated features like mouse bungees and a headphone holder.

The XG270QG is 27″ in size and offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 144Hz native refresh rate, 165Hz overclocking capability, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 1.07b colour depth and 98% DCi-P3 colour gamut.

It does carry the same 1ms G2G spec on paper as the LG model, but as we know from our LG 27GL850 testing, this is not realistic in practice without large amount of overshoot. Take this spec with a pinch of salt, although response time performance was still very good from the LG model.

The high refresh rate is supported for variable refresh rates on NVIDIA systems only, as this model will feature a traditional G-sync module. Some people still prefer this to provide additional benefits such as variable overdrive and better support for lower refresh rates, so it is interesting to see an alternative G-sync-only option here from the XG270QG. This model will also apparently feature ULMB for motion blur reduction benefits.

There are also 2x 2W stereo speakers built in to the screen along with various RGB lighting options. The lighting will be controllable via the Elite RGB Controller on-screen display (OSD) software, which will be the first app for ViewSonic’s Elite line when it is released. It lets you pick colors and browse through different lighting modes. There are two mouse bungees (right and left) and headphone hook to make gaming more convenient and tidy as well.

The screen is apparently expected to be available around November time at a price of $599.99 USD.
