ViewSonic VP3481 for Semi-Professional Users, with Hardware Calibration

ViewSonic are soon releasing a new 34″ model in their VP range. The VP3481 will offer a 21:9 aspect ratio, ultrawide screen with 3440 x 1440 resolution and a curved screen format. It’s aimed at semi-professional users and offers features including support for hardware calibration and a uniformity correction mode.

The VP3481 is based on a VA technology panel and offers a 5ms G2G response time, 3000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit colour depth and a standard sRGB gamut. It has a 100Hz refresh rate, and can support adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates if needed (FreeSync and G-sync).

The screen supports hardware calibration of the monitor’s internal LUT via compatible calibration devices and ViewSonic’s provided software. A uniformity correction mode is also provided as with other VP series monitors.

DisplayPort, HDMI and USB type-C connections are listed on the spec page, and looking at the user manual it appears to have 2x HDMI and 2x USB type-C. There are also 2x USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack provided. There are a range of PiP and PbP modes available from within the OSD menu. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments.

The screen is listed on ViewSonic’s website as “coming soon” but we don’t have an ETA yet for availability, or any indication of price.
