Asus ROG Strix XG279Q with 170Hz Refresh Rate IPS Panel Further Information

We originally brought you news of this screen back in August 2019 where it was announced at the Gamescom event. We now have a bit more information courtesy of Taiwanese retail store Taobao. The XG279Q is part of the Asus ROG Strix gaming lineup and is 27″ in size, featuring an IPS technology panel. The refresh rate seems to have been boosted slightly through an overclocking option, now advertised as 170Hz which is a slight improvement over the originally expected 165Hz. This is backed by adaptive-sync giving VRR support for AMD and NVIDIA systems. The spec also suggests that it has been (or soon will be) officially certified as NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’.

Asus ROG Strix XG279Q with 165Hz Refresh Rate and Adaptive-sync

Announced at this year’s Gamescom event was the new ROG Strix XG279Q from Asus. The screen is 27″ in size and aimed at gamers, offering a 2ms G2G response time, 165Hz refresh rate and support for adaptive-sync. This allows the screen to be used for variable refresh rates from both NVIDIA G-sync and AMD FreeSync systems.
