Originally published 6 June 2021, now updated
Originally announced in June in China, AOC have now more widely announced a new monitor in their AGON gaming line-up. The AGON PRO AG254FG is 24.5″ in size and features a 1080p IPS panel, 1ms G2G response time and a 360Hz refresh rate. It also includes Native NVIDIA G-sync support for variable refresh rates, NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer and a range of typical AGON series gaming extras. The AGON PRO branding is an entirely new product category for the most demanding and competitive gamers and esports players
“The esports scene is a very tough environment, and the esports athletes and enthusiasts require the best gear they can possibly get. Through co-operating with legendary teams such as G2 Esports, we know what professionals want and with their needs in mind we brought AGON PRO to life,” says Stefan Sommer, Head of Global Marketing at AOC.
AGON PRO AG254FG Specs
The 24.5″ AGON PRO AG254FG sports a powerful design for the best gamers out there and was bestowed the “reddot design award”. Spec wise the screen is 24.5″ in size and features a 3-side borderless 1920 x 1080 resolution IPS panel. There is an advertised 1ms G2G response time along with 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles and a slightly extended colour gamut covering ~110% sRGB and 85% DCI-P3.
The high refresh rate of 360Hz is supported by a Native G-sync hardware module for excellent VRR performance and range, low input lag and variable overdrive as with the other current 360Hz models on the market. We reviewed one of the first, the Asus ROG Swift PG259QN back in September 2020. ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) mode is also included on this screen. This new AOC screen also includes NVIDIA’s Reflex Latency Analyzer tool allowing you to track and monitor your system performance and lag.
For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 ports provided, along with 4x USB 3.0 ports, a mic in, mic out and headphone jacks. 2x 5W integrated speakers are also included, and the stand offers tilt, swivel, height and rotate adjustments.
To adjust the monitor to their preferences, users can either use the included wired remote, the QuickSwitch, to flick between various settings, or use the AOC G-Menu software on their PCs. Additional gaming features include the Dialpoint (crosshair overlay) to help players improve their aim, Frame Counter to show frames per second information on any of the four corners, the AOC Shadow Control feature to lighten dark areas without affecting the rest of the screen and vice versa, the AOC Game Color setting to change saturation levels, and 6 gaming modes for different game genres (3 of them user customisable).
On the backside, the monitor features strong lines and striking accents of the AGON Light FX RGB lighting, which provides 14 lighting modes and 10.000s of RGB light combinations that can be customised with the special AOC software, G-Menu. The AGON LED logo projection on the front also increases the flair for gamers to show their unique gaming style.
The first AGON PRO model, the 24.5” AGON PRO AG254FG will be available from September 2021 at an RRP of £699.99 in the UK
