LG have recently released a new monitor designed specifically for Apple products apparently and aimed at creative designers, photographers and videographers. The “UltraFine 5K Display” (model number 27MD5KL) is a 27″ sized monitor with a 5K resolution and offers Thunderbolt 3 and USB type-C connections for easy connectivity from Apple Macs, iPad Pro tablets and PC’s. Both connections transfer video, audio and data simultaneously. The three USB-C ports can also be used to charge (up to 94W) connected devices.
The 27″ screen offers a 5120 x 2880 resolution (5K) IPS panel. In other specs there is a 14ms G2G response time, 60Hz refresh rate, 1100:1 contrast ratio, 500 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angle,s 10-bit colour depth and 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Tilt and height adjustments are offered from the stand and “users can control brightness and volume directly from the Touch Bar or keyboard on MacBook Pro”. There is also an integrated camera, microphone and speaker (2x 5W) for online chats and calls.
The 27MD5KL is available now for $1299 from Apple or £1179 GBP in the UK.
