Lenovo ThinkVision P40w-20 with 40″ 5K2K Panel is the World’s First Intel AMT Capable Thunderbolt 4 Monitor
After the announcements earlier this year from Dell and LG, Lenovo are also looking to launch a large 40″ ultrawide display this year. The Lenovo ThinkVision P40w-20 offers a 40″ (well, 39.7″ to be precise) ultrawide display with an IPS panel offering a 5120 x 2160 resolution. It has a 2500R curvature and a wide range of connectivity options including Thunderbolt 4 and USB type-C amongst others.
Spec wise the panel screen has a 5120 x 2160 (“5K2K”) resolution IPS panel, 4ms G2G response time (extreme mode), 75Hz refresh rate, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour depth support and a wide colour gamut backlight covering 98% DCI-P2 (and 99% sRGB). The screen comes factory-calibrated with a Delta E<2 accuracy.
The ThinkVision P40w-20 has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and is therefore aimed at multitasking professionals rather than on those who need to replace two displays with one. Meanwhile, the unit still has a built-in KVM switch and supports Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture capabilities
The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments. For connectivity there are 2x Thunderbolt 4 (1 with 100W power delivery, 1 for daisy chaining) along with a USB type-C (27W), DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, headphone and even a GbE LAN port. There are 4x USB 3.2 hub ports provided as well.
The Ethernet port on the ThinkVision P40w-20 fully supports such capabilities as Wake-on-LAN (S3/S4/S5), PXE Boot,and MAC address pass through to transfer and securely maintain a network to up to two connected sources simultaneously. The GbE chip inside the port can also support Intel Active Management Technology for Intel vPro clients.
ThinkVision P40w-20 is the world’s first Intel AMT capable Thunderbolt 4 monitor that enables a stable and secure connection to assist with remote deployment and maintenance on connected devices. Furthermore, the P40w-20 also includes patented technologies to enhance end-user experience: eKVM gives users instant access to two PC sources at the click of a button, and True Split lets users view both those sources simultaneously through Picture-by-Picture, and can select which source to share to a video conference display for example.
Lenovo plans to start selling its ThinkVision P40w-20 display in June, 2021, for an MSRP of $1,699.
