HP have just announced an interesting new monitor in their lineup, which was also showcased at this year’s Gamescom event. The Omen X27 is a 27″ screen featuring a 2560 x 1440 resolution TN Film panel and a 240Hz native refresh rate. This marks a significant step up in resolution from the wider range of 1080p resolution 240Hz panels that are already available in the market. There is a 1ms G2G response time spec, and support for adaptive-sync (including FreeSync 2 certification).

The screen is based on a TN Film panel, but offers a wide 90% DCi-P3 gamut backlight for enhanced colours and improved HDR performance. Speaking of HDR, HP do talk about HDR support, but don’t expect anything meaningful here in the way of HDR experience.

In other specs there is a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 170/160 viewing angles. There is 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0 ports available along with 2x USB 3.0 ports and 1x digital/1x analogue audio out. Only a basic tilt adjustment is offered from the stand.

The HP Omen X 27 releases apparently this September for $649 USD.
