Gigabyte have released details of their new Aorus FI32Q gaming monitor on their website. This model is 31.5″ in size and uses a 2560 x 1440 resolution “Super Speed” IPS panel, combined with a 165Hz native refresh rate and small 170Hz overclocking feature. Gigabyte promote a range of gaming features including a 1ms G2G and 1ms MPRT response time spec and their updated Aim Stabilizer Sync technology. The screen features adaptive-sync for VRR from both NVIDIA and AMD systems.
In other specs the screen offers a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 8-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 94% DCI-P3 (120% sRGB).
Gigabyte talk about the HDR support of this screen as well with (we would assume) HDR10 support as well as supporting HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), allowing users to truly enjoy the content originally created by broadcasting platform. The screen is only rated to HDR 400 standards and so while it might accept those input sources, there is not expected to be any form of backlight local dimming to actually improve the contrast ratio/dynamic range. The screen also lacks 10-bit colour depth support, although it does at least have a wide colour gamut for enhanced colours in HDR content.
One feature discussed on their website is the updated “Aim Stabilizer Sync” technology, giving rise to the 1ms MPRT spec. Aim Stabilizer is their name for a motion blur reduction backlight option, and their website states that the “Upgraded Aim Stabilizer is able to conduct the motion blur reduction and V-Sync technology at the same time!”…We would have thought that this feature was designed to offer simultaneous VRR (G-sync/FreeSync) and blur reduction like Asus’ ELMB-sync technology does, but the use of the term “v-sync” makes this a bit confusing.
There are a range of additional features including familiar features like Black Equalizer (for adjusting dark scene gamma), loads of gaming preset modes, RGB Fusion lighting system etc. An additional KVM feature allows you to control multiple devices via one set of keyboard, video and mouse. PbP and PiP modes are also supported.
Gigabyte also promote their ESS Sabre ANC 2.0 technology and explain that “AORUS monitors provide up to 120dB Signal-to-Noise ratio playback quality, and support up to 600 ohm headphones. The latest upgrade is that gamers get to choose premium audio with or without headsets on!”.
The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate functions. For connectivity there are 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x USB type-C and 2x HDMI 2.0 connections provided along with a headphone jack and 2x USB 3.0 ports.
