Dell 2021 S-Series Monitor Line-up Information Released
Some information has appeared online about Dell’s forthcoming S-series screens in their 2021 line-up in a range of sizes from 23.8” up to 32”. All models are expected to be available later this month around 20th August apparently. A summary of the new S-series models is below:
1080p Models
- S2421H/HN – a 23.8” sized monitor with an IPS panel and 1920 x 1080 resolution and aimed at home entertainment and leisure gaming. This model supports 75Hz refresh rate and adaptive-sync for VRR. There are dual HDMI ports provided for connectivity, a tilt adjustment stand and integrated 2x 3W speakers (H model only). The S2421HN is expected to retail for around 139 Euro, while the S2421H is a little more expensive at 149 Euro. Both are expected to be released around 20th August 2020
- S2421HS – The same as the above, but this time with a fully adjustable stand with height, tilt, swivel and rotate adjustments. DisplayPort is also listed for this model along with HDMI although looks like it will not include any speakers. Retail price is 159 Euro, release date also 20th August
- S2721H/HN – basically the same as the S2421H and S2421HN models but this time with a larger 27” sized screen. Still with the same 1920 x 1080 resolution and IPS panel and dual HDMI inputs with a tilt only stand provided. The H model will feature speakers and will be priced at 179 Euro, whereas the HN model will be 169 Euro.
S2721HS – as above, the 27” model with a fully adjustable stand this time and a DisplayPort connection as well as HDMI, but no speakers. Retail price is 189 Euro
1440p Models
S2721D – a 27” model with an IPS panel but this time with a higher 2560 x 1440 resolution. This model still has a 75Hz refresh rate and adaptive-sync support for VRR. Speakers are included, and this model also has 99% sRGB gamut listed in the spec. This is expected to retail for around 229 Euro. Also available with a fully adjustable stand from the S2721DS at a price of 239 Euro.
4K Models
- S2721QS – for those who want higher 4K resolutions this model is 27” in size but offers a 3840 x 2160 resolution. Support for HDR is also listed but we wouldn’t expect this to be much more than bog standard HDR10 input support or the lowly VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification with no local dimming capability (TBC). This model has a 60Hz refresh rate and support for adaptive-sync for VRR. A 99% sRGB gamut is listed along with a 10-bit colour depth. A fully adjustable stand is included along with inte3grated speakers. Expected retail price is 319 Euro.
- S3221QS – 31.5” in size with a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a curved screen format. Unlike all the other models discussed here, this is a VA panel as opposed to IPS. It again includes “support for HDR” but we are not sure at what level. This is basically a larger version than the 27” S2721QS model with similar features on the most part. 2x 5W “Waves Maxxaudio” speakers are mentioned along with a wider colour gamut covering 90% DCI-P3 this time but also with a 10-bit colour depth again. It looks like the stand might only offer tilt and height adjustment without swivel and rotate although this is to be confirmed. Retail price is expected to be 359 Euro.
Gaming Line-up
There are also some models in the S series that form part of the “Dell Gaming” brand as well. These have a 3 side borderless design and a newly designed slim, tapered stand. This includes tilt and height adjustments and a smaller footprint base. There are also features like a joystick OSD control and short cut keys for preset modes. Forthcoming models include:
- S2421HGF – 23.8” in size with a 1920 x 1080 resolution TN Film panel. 1ms response time, 144HZ refresh rate, adaptive-sync support. Expected price of 189 Euro
- S2721DGF – 27” in size with a 2560 x 1440 resolution IPS panel with 1ms response time, 165 Hz refresh rate, adaptive-sync support and 98% DCI-P3 gamut. Expected price of 429 Euro
- S2721HGF – a curved monitor with a 1920 x 1080 resolution VA panel, 1ms response time, 144Hz refresh rate, adaptive sync support. Expected price of 229 Euro.
