AOC Issue Statement About the Panel Change for the 24G2U Gaming Monitor

Towards the end of last year AOC made a change to their popular 23.8″ 24G2U gaming display and switched to the use of a different panel. We had reviewed the 24G2U as part of last year’s budget gaming monitor article, and were impressed by its performance and capabilities. It’s become one of the most popular low-cost gaming monitors in this size range and recommended by many different reviewers. Later in August 2020 some users started to notice that the panel in their screen was not the same as that in the review units, with AOC seemingly having switched from using a panel from lesser-known manufacturer Panda as featured in the numerous reviews online, to one from BOE instead.

LG 27GP850 with 27″ 1440p Nano IPS Panel and 180Hz Refresh Rate

A familiar look

LG are set to release the successor to their very popular 27GL850 display, still one of the most popular models on the market. This new 27GP850 model will be part of their UltraGear gaming line-up and boasts an increased refresh rate compared with the older model. The 27GP850 has a 27″ Nano IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and a refresh rate up to 180Hz.

Asus ProArt PA32UCG with 32″ 4K IPS Panel, 120Hz VRR, 1152 zone MiniLED backlight and HDR 1400

At IFA in Berlin all the way back in September 2019 Asus showcased their new ProArt PA32UCG display, a screen which has an incredibly impressive spec, but will no doubt carry a hefty price tag. It’s aimed at professional users and content creators looking for high levels of colour accuracy and is part of their ProArt lineup. Despite that market positioning there is also an interesting spec from a gaming point of view as well. The screen is 32″ in size and features a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1152 zone Mini LED backlight and the new VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification.

Asus ROG Swift PG32UQX with 32″ IPS Panel, 4K Resolution, 144Hz, G-sync Ultimate and HDR 1400

Asus announced all the way back in Jan 2020 at the CES event a top end gaming display in their popular ROG Swift series – the ROG Swift PG32UQX, the “World’s first Mini LED Gaming Monitor”. This screen will offer a 32″ IPS-type panel with 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution combined with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It also features a Native G-sync hardware module with G-sync Ultimate certification, a Mini LED backlight with 1152 dimming zones, HDR 1400 certification and a range of other top end features.

Gigabyte Aorus FV43U with 43.4″ 4K Resolution and 144Hz Showcased

At a special launch even in Vietnam at the beginning of April Gigabyte showcased their new 43.4″ sized Aorus FV43U display. This offers a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution combined with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms MPRT (moving picture response time) spec, which is possible because of the availability of a motion blur reduction backlight. The FV43U also includes HDR 1000 certification and HDMI 2.1 connectivity for the latest generation consoles and graphics cards.

Gigabyte Aorus FI32U Expected with 31.5″ IPS Panel, 4K and 144Hz Refresh Rate and HDMI 2.1

There isn’t full official information available for this display yet but Gigabyte will at some point soon release a 31.5″ sized display with a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution and a high 144Hz refresh rate – the Aorus FI32U. This would mark their venture in to this long sought after combination in a screen of this size. Other screens expected with this res/refresh rate combination from other manufacturers are also covered in this news piece. The FI32U has been teased by Gigabyte with some limited promotional information and specs, but also appeared on a Russian retailer with some further info listed, although we would take some of this as unconfirmed at this stage, and subject to change. We will update this news piece when we have more concrete information.

Asus ROG Strix XG349C with 34″ IPS Panel, 180Hz Refresh Rate and ELMB-Sync.

Asus have released a new 34″ gaming monitor in their popular ROG Strix line-up. The XG349C offers a 34″ ultrawide display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 3440 x 1440 resolution. It also boasts a maximum 180Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate support and Asus’ ELMB-sync technology for simultaneous blur reduction and VRR. It also includes USB type-C connectivity and a built in KVM switch.
