AOC have just announced two new displays designed by the world-renowned design agency Studio F. A. Porsche: the Red Dot Design Award-winning U32U1, a 31.5″ premium business monitor with 4K resolution and VESA DisplayHDR 600, and the Q27T1, a 27″ QHD monitor geared towards design-conscious home users. This news piece focuses on the larger U32U1 model.
The flagship model is the very attractive looking U32U1 model. This is 31.5″ in size and aimed at professional and personal use, but at the premium (and more expensive) end of the monitor market. It aims at users with high aesthetical requirements and draws on trends in classical furniture design. The tubular-shaped tripod stand creates visual lightness and lets it stand out in any environment and usage context.
It also excels with other supreme design features: the 4-sided frameless, slim and tiltable display sits on its shiny metal tripod stand, which is height-adjustable to 120 mm. The aluminium back-plate with rounded corners, which also houses the cable connectors, creates a fine contrast to the dark grey flat back cover. A true functional novelty is that this plate remains in the same position when the display is rotated into portrait position (pivot function) so the cables stay in the same place as well. For increased flexibility, the display also comes with a VESA grid for mounting on external stands or wall mounts.
The U32U1 uses an IPS technology panel and offers a 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution and is certified to VESA’s DisplayHDR 600 standards for HDR 10 content. This includes a 10-bit colour depth and 90% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Not
In other specs there is a 5ms G2G response time, 60Hz refresh rate, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 600 cd/m2 peak brightness, 1.07b colour depth and 178/178 viewing angles. There are DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 connections provided as well as a USB type-C connection. Additionally 4x USB 3.1 ports are included along with an audio in and headphone out jack. The screen also features integrated 2x 2W stereo speakers. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate functions or can be removed for VESA 100mm mounting.
Release date is not yet known beyond “later in 2019” and pricing also isn’t listed. More info as we get it.
