AOC have this week announced their new AG273QX display, the newest competitive-grade display from its 3rd generation AGON line-up. The new display is 27″ in size and features a 2560 x 1440 resolution VA panel, 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms MPRT spec and FreeSync 2 support for variable refresh rates. Unlike a lot of similar screens this model is flat in format as opposed to curved and has a 3-side frameless design.

AMD FreeSync 2 is supported for variable refresh rates up to 165Hz, which also means that the screen will work with compatible NVIDIA G-sync systems. There is a 1ms MPRT spec which suggests the availability of a blur reduction backlight option, and a 4ms G2G spec is also thankfully included. In other specs the screen offers a 3000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 16.7m colour depth and a wide gamut backlight with 122% sRGB coverage (99% Adobe RGB).

The AG273QX also the (rather meaningless) VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. To help gamers transport their monitors to LAN parties or tournaments, the AG273QX is equipped with a carrying handle and provides a one-click easy assembly without screws. The AG273QX also comes with double retractable headset-holders on each side and the Light FX customisable RGB lights on the backside, adding to the personalised feel.

First person shooter fans will especially appreciate the DialPoint, AOC’s aim indicator, which places a crosshair in the middle of screen if there isn’t one present in game. Furthermore, AOC’s Shadow Control can be adjusted in the OSD menu to brighten dark areas or darken bright areas, and the AOC Game Colour makes it possible to increase or decrease colour saturation and grey levels. Three pre-configured (FPS, Racing, RTS) and three user customisable game modes offer easy access to useful presets. The updated OSD on the AGON 3 series makes adjusting settings a breeze, and users can even use the G-Menu software to make further adjustments without using the OSD buttons.

For connectivity there is VGA, DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 provided along with 4x USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack. There are also 2x 5W speakers included. The stand includes a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

The AOC AGON AG273QX will be available in November 2019 at an MSRP of  £439.
