Acer XB273 with 27″ IPS Panel, 165Hz and 90% DCI-P3 Gamut

A new model from Acer has appeared on some regional retail pages which looks interesting. The XB273U will offer a 27″ IPS technology panel with 2560 x 1440 resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It will also feature a wide colour gamut with >90% DCI-P3 quoted. The screen has G-sync compatibility via the adaptive-sync standard, meaning it can support VRR from both AMD and NVIDIA systems.

MSI Optix MAG272RX and MAG272CRX with 240Hz VA Panels and 1ms MPRT

MSI are set to release two new models in their range, featuring 27″ VA technology panels and supporting a 240Hz native refresh rate. We have already seen a couple of models announced from Samsung and AOC featuring 240Hz VA panels, so this will provide another alternative option for gamers. The two new models are the Optix MAG272RX (flat) and MAG272CRX (curved 1500R). Both offer a 1920 x 1080 resolution.

Eizo Foris Nova Special Edition Monitor with 21.6″ OLED Panel

Eizo have this week announced their new 21.6″ Foris Nova display, featuring the World’s first printed 4K OLED panel. It’s a “special edition monitor” and is “perfect for private entertainment of 4K videos, streaming, and gaming, including HDR content”. OLED technology has really not cracked the desktop monitor market, despite it’s fairly widespread use in the TV segment. In recent times we have seen a 21.6″ professional model from Asus (the ProArt PQ22UC) and a 55″ gaming display from Dell (their Alienware AW5520QF) announced, although these are still very niche and expensive as well. The newly announced Eizo model is unlikely to change that, but is another interesting venture in to the World of OLED in this area.

AOC CU34G2X With 34″ Ultrawide VA Panel and 144Hz Refresh Rate

AOC have released details in some regions of a new 34″ model in their gaming line-up of displays. The CU34G2X is 34″ in size and has a 21:9 aspect ratio, VA technology panel, 1500R curvature and a 3440 x 1440 resolution. It supports refresh rates up to 144Hz over DisplayPort (100Hz over HDMI) and has a variable refresh rate range of 48 – 100/144Hz. This is supported by adaptive-sync allowing for support from AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-sync systems.
