LG 34GK950G with 120Hz UltraWide Nano IPS and G-sync

LG are set to release a new 34″ 3440 x 1440 resolution ultrawide (21:9 aspect ratio) monitor in there range, the 34GK950G. This screen is based on the latest LG.Display ‘Nano IPS’ panel technology which has enhanced phosphors on the backlight to extend the colour gamut. A flicker-free W-LED backlight is used with a ‘KSF phosphor’ layer (K2SiF6 doped with Mn4, for the chemically minded) to achieve 98% DCI-P3 (~135% sRGB).

Of particular interest is the support for a 120Hz refresh rate  and NVIDIA G-sync. In other specs the 34″ panel offers a 5ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles and 8-bit colour depth. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments and the back of the screen/stand also features LG’s ‘Sphere Lighting’ system. There are DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4, 2x USB 3.0 and a headphone connection offered.

Update: 31/8/18 – release is expected in November 2018 at an EU RRP of 1399 Euro.

Update 17/10/18: release date for the G model still expected in November in Europe and the UK. Updated price expectation, in the UK at least is £1099.99. We will have a review of this model in about a week’s time. Review of the F model now online.
