Dell have announced today the release of a new 49″ ultrawide curved monitor in their ever popular UltraSharp range. The U4919DW will be the World’s first 49″ ultrawide with a dual Quad HD resolution of 5120 x 1440, delivering the resolution equivalent to 2x 27″ 1440p displays side by side. This is aimed at general office and business customers looking for a large screen for multi-tasking and increased productivity. We have already recently seen the Philips 499P9H announced as well with this same screen size and resolution (expected Q1 2019) but it looks like Dell will be racing to release their screen first to market as early as this month in the US.

The screen will offer a 5120 x 1440 resolution, 5ms G2G response time, 60Hz refresh rate,  1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 1.07b colour depth and 99% sRGB gamut.

The U4919DW uses LG.Display’s latest LM490DQ1 IPS technology panel, unlike the Philips which will use a Samsung VA panel.  It is curved with a 3800R curvature and has a 32:9 aspect ratio.  The screen comes factory calibrated as well with a DeltaE <2 specified. Low blue light modes and a flicker free backlight are offered for user comfort, which is always good news.

You can easily view content from two different PC sources with Picture-by-Picture (PbP) support. This feature splits the screen into two sides, similar to a dual monitor setup minus distracting borders. You can also easily toggle between two  different PCs and edit the content with one keyboard and mouse with the Keyboard, Video and Mouse (KVM) feature.

The U4919DW offers a USB type-C connection along with 2x HDMI 2.0 and 1x DisplayPort 1.4 connections. There are also 5x USB 3.0 downstream and 2x USB 3.0 upstream ports provided. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments.

The Dell UltraSharp 49 Curved Monitor U4919DW will be available Oct. 26 in t. starting at £1245 GBP according to the press release.
