You don’t see many screens released nowadays with glossy screen coatings, but some users still prefer this for their desktop monitor. A glossy screen coating can help provide a clean and crisp image and can help colours and blacks “pop” somewhat. Dell are set to release two new screens in their S-line, aimed at gaming primarily. Both feature a glossy screen coating with a low haze treatment to help cut down on some of the reflections a little. They come in an unusual dark blue plastic finish dubbed “Recon Blue” by Dell, with models available in 24” and 27” sizes. Both are TN Film technology and offer support for high refresh rates, ideal for gaming.

The S2419HGF is 24” in size and offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution TN Film panel with a 120Hz native refresh rate and a 144Hz overclocking feature. While the S2749DGF is 27” in size and has a 2560 x 1440 resolution TN Film panel with a 144Hz native refresh rate, and a 155Hz overclocking feature.

Both models support Adaptive Sync / AMD FreeSync for variable refresh rates between 40 – 144/155Hz (depending on the model). In other specs the screens both offer 1ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 170/160 viewing angles, 16.7m colour depth and an sRGB colour gamut. There are a range of gaming features including an on screen timer, frame rate counter, display alignment settings and black stabilizer modes. Tilt, height, swivel and pivot adjustments are offered from the stand and there are 1x DisplayPort 1.2a, 2x HDMI (one of which is v2.0 on the 27” model), a 3.5mm headphone jack, line out and 2x USB 3.0 ports (3x on the 27” model) provided.

Both models are expected to be available within the next couple of months at a retail price of $319.99 (S24) and $549.99 (S27) USD.
