[Correction] Acer ConceptD CP3271K P – a New 27″ Monitor with 4K and 144Hz

[Correction 13/4/19] Our sincerest apologies, but we made a big mistake with the original news piece for this display. Thanks to a very confusing naming scheme from Acer, we believed this to be a 32″ sized screen, which would have made it the first 32″ 4K @ 144Hz monitor announced. In fact, the naming scheme seems to reflect that it is in the “CP3 series”, with the “27” in the middle signifying the model size! So this is actually just another 27″ sized model with 4K and 144Hz. Honestly, who starts their monitor naming scheme with “CP32″ when it’s not a 32″ model?! Acer going against pretty much every other monitor in the market! Massive apologies for getting anyone’s hopes up. I guess the wait for a 32” 4K @ 144Hz continues 🙁

Announced at this years Acer event in New York is the new ConceptD CP3271K P display. Don’t confuse this with the fairly similarly named CM7321K. Despite the very confusing naming scheme that caught us out the first time around, this CP3271K P model is 27″ in size and features a 3840 x 2160 resolution IPS panel. It seems with the ConceptD models that the first number after the letters represents the series, so this is the “CP3” series, and that makes the CM7321K part of the “CM7″ series. That CM7321K is a 32″ sized model, but this CP3271K P is only 27”.

It does still feature a 144Hz refresh rate which makes it another option for 4K gaming at 144Hz, just sadly this is only in 27″ size. We’ve already reviewed the Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ, and Acer have their equivalent Predator X27 which are higher end models with FALD HDR backlights – and a very high price tag as a result. This new CP3271K P looks like it will be more similar to the Acer Nitro XV273K, offering the same resolution and refresh rate but without the FALD HDR backlight. That should result in a lower price point.

There is limited information available at the moment about this screen but we do know that it will feature the new ConceptD monitor design, with black bezels and a wooden base to the stand. This particular CP3271K P model will certainly be interesting for gamers with its high resolution and high refresh rate, but it also carries the PANTONE certification of the other new ConceptD displays. This ensures a high level of colour accuracy with DeltaE <1.

The screen supports AdaptiveSync, meaning it can be used with AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-sync for variable refresh rates. It does carry the VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification but this is largely meaningless for HDR and can probably be ignored. There is no FALD or Mini LED backlight on this particular model, although that does mean it’s likely to be more affordable than the FALD-type models like the Predator X27. This is going to be more like the 27″ Nitro XV273K monitor we reviewed last year which offered 4K @ 144Hz but without any true HDR.

Further info and specs are not known at this time, but we will update this news piece when we have more information. No news on price or availability either but we will update this news piece when we know more.

As a side note, there is also another 27″ model being released with a lower 2560 x 1440 resolution (model CP3271U). That will feature a 144Hz refresh rate, 90% DCI-P3 gamut, Pantone Validation for dE <2 and lowly VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.
